CROSSWORD hosts the 100th HELP TALK
Crossword Bookstore Ltd, India’ largest chain of bookstores, on the occasion of Doctor’s Day, hosted the 100th HELP Talk entitled “Information Therapy - The Best Medicine” by Dr Aniruddha Malpani, MD at the Kemps Corner store. Dr Malpani is the founder of HELP (Health Education Library for People), a health awareness activist and has authored the book, ‘How to Get the Best Medical Care’. Patients in India are increasingly disgruntled with the attitude of doctors, who do not seem to give them the attention & time that they rightfully deserve. Keeping this in mind, he discussed the burning issue of improving the doctor-patient professional relationship.
HELP Talks, the brain child of Dr Hufrish Suraliwalla, medical information manager at HELP, is a series of health talks started in June 1999. This is the longest series of health talks held in India, as documented by the Limca Book of Records. A galaxy of prominent doctors & health professionals have spoken at this very popular series in the past. As a part of the 100th HELP Talk, Dr. Malpani covered issues such as: How to talk so your doctor will listen; how to decipher prescriptions and make sense of medical jargon; how to explore your treatment options and get a second opinion without offending your doctor; what to do when you are not happy with your doctor; how to make friends with the clinic staff; how to find reliable information on the Net without getting lost etc.
HELP (Health Education Library for People), India’s largest health education resource centre, founded by leading infertility specialists Drs Aniruddha & Anjali Malpani in 1995, aims to educate Mumbai’s citizens about their health and medical problems, so that they can get the best medical care in partnership with their doctor.
