Teaching tools
Family planning, STDs, and AIDS flannelgraphs
Pictures printed on flannel, which can be cut out and displayed
on a flannel-board to stimulate discussion and involve groups in defining
problems and identifying solutions. An accompanying manual suggests ways the
pictures can be used, and provides information about HIV/AIDS, STD and family
planning. Flannelgraphs are easy to carry, can be reused many times, and can be
added to and adapted to meet the needs of the people using them.

The Strategies for Hope series, a project of the British
NGO Action Aid, aims to promote positive thinking and practical action in the
field of HIV/AIDS care, support and prevention, particularly in sub-Saharan
Africa. It consists of a series of booklets, 25 to 40 pages in length, which
describe innovative community-based forms of AIDS prevention, care and
counselling. The series has also produced three videos (see Videos) and the

Information, education and communication materials for
African youth workers: A resource guide
Lists over 50 booklets, posters, audio and visual aids and
manuals produced in Africa for African audiences. Aimed at youth and adults and
covers issues such as adolescent development, sexuality, contraception, STD
prevention and harmful traditional practices.
The guide provides ordering information and tips for adapting
