All About Stress by K. P. S. Kamath
Best Ways to Cope with Stress
2. What is the Stress Equation ?
We can not completely avoid experiencing painful emotions no matter how good we are in managing stress in our life. In the final analysis, it is the total amount of painful emotions remaining in the mind (balloon) that determines how sick we are with stress symptoms. If our mind disposes these emotions for good, we stay well. If not, they remain in our hidden mind and the balloon. Here is an attempt to quantify this equation:
Severity of Stress Symptoms (S S S) = Total amount of Painful Emotions
( T P E) that have come into the mind (balloon)minus the sum of Buried Emotions (BE) in the hidden mind (soda bottle), Expressed Emotions (EE) (from the outlet) and Cancelled-out Emotions (CE). S S = T P E - (B E + E E + C E).
