The services of OT are now crucial in School set ups,Child Guidance Clinics,NICUs,Day Care units,Orthosis and Prosthesis units,Mental  rehabilitation,Oncological rehabilitation,Ergonomics,Wellness clinics and Gyms,etc

 

The long term rehabilitation also includes OT as an important team member in providing Hospice care for terminally ill,Old age care,Chronical psychiatric clients,etc

 

OT includes education,assessment (using standardized scales,checklist,etc);provides independence in Activities of Daily Living( like groming,dressing,communication,etc)provides adaptations in the environment(installing grab bars,non skid mats,etc)and providing assistive devices like splints,orthosis,wheel chairs,etc

 

It caters to Performance areas of life like Work,Play and Leisure,Rest through developing Performance components like coginitive,perceptual,physical,social,sensory - motor,emotional,spiritual,etc

It provides Community Based Rehabilitation(CBR) in rural and orther areas

Thus it has Preventive Accomodative & Rehabilitative approach in making life meaningful,productive and independent.
